Brummie Meet 6

Attended the “Brummie Meet 6” at Bennets Bar in Birmingham city centre last night. Picked up a couple of quick caches on the walk from the car park to the venue, it had to be done!

There were quite a few people there, of which we knew none. However, we got on well with everyone we actually met and had a good time.

I can’t remember the names or nicknames of most of the people we actually met and spoke to I’m afraid, partly because some of them had user names with numbers, partly because I had not heard of a lot of them before but mainly because I’ve got a rubbish memory anyway. The notable people from my point of view were people whose caches I had found so far and they included the notorious “Strangler” and Delta68.

As a result of the visit I also realised that the Grounspeak weekly newsletter was not in fact a waste of time as far as we British go after all, which is what I had so far assumed. This assumption was due to the fact that after quickly perusing the very first one I had received, rather than actually reading any of it, I had quickly surmised that it was squarely aimed at the American readership. Anyway, I now know different and as a result we shall be attending (for the Saturday only) Piratemania 2010 and hopefully several more events this year as well.

In future I will try to pay more attention!
