An unsuccessful placing

Well, yesterday was a very unsuccessful day for me I’m afraid.

I went out with the intention of placing a total of 7 caches and only managed one in the end and that was only a micro – Doh!

The other 6 caches were meant to be a series with 5 being small or micro and all with clues to the final main cache. The main problem is that I had been working on the series for a couple of weeks or so and they were destined for the Lickey Hills. In the meantime, I was beaten to it by Blindmouse who placed 11 caches all over and around the same area. This meant that I had to seriously revise some of my placement decisions including the final main cache.

After a bit of walking and thought, I set out yesterday to place the caches. When I got to the last one which was the main cache, I realised that the tree canopy made GPS so unreliable that the coordinates I had originally set and which all the clues pointed to, were out! – Bugger!

I decided to backtrack and retrieve the other 5 caches using and testing my own coordinates, so as to amend the clues and replace everything another day. I then realised that 2 of these caches were also in positions where the tree canopy would have made finding them very difficult.

After nearly 3 hours, I decided that this would make the overall difficulty of the whole series far too great so, in the words of the famous Ron Moody – I think I’d better think it out again!
